Novel excerpts: Bank Robbery; Confessions of a reformed bank robber.

I was at the end of my rope. If I didn't do something today we were going to be out on the street. That was all there was to it. You could dress it up any way you wanted to, but that's what it came down to. I took one more shot at the job center/welfare office. The bank was right down the street, and I had everything I needed for the job. The lady behind the desk looked at me like I was a bug on her club sandwich. She made me feel like just what I was; one more out of work slob keeping her from what she really wanted to do. One more coat of nail polish. I knew what I was going to have to do already. No matter what happened here today I wasn't going to get what I needed, cash. I was only putting off what I had already decided to do. The savings were gone, and I had made way too much money in the last year, they weren't going to help me with assistance.

Just as I thought, and moments later, on to the job placement assistance desk I went. Half an hour later I broke free of the gravitational pull of the job center. I could feel it pulling at my back like a desperate man grasping at his last chance for life...

Cat's perspective

I roam the night, ancient blood flows through my veins, and my heart quickens with the thrill of the hunt. I am a guardian of all that is sleek and noble, and aloof in this world of blunder, and brashness.
As Autumn moon disappears behind the rolling mist, my preternatural sight spies my prey frozen and sightless. A short time later, hunger sated, I move on. The night is mine, it calls to me like a lover that I cannot deny.
I am the hunter, a traveler of the distant past. My forefathers roamed the ancient passages of the pyramids when those dust ridden paths were new and freshly formed. We are a noble lineage, from Pharaohs to Kings our line was passed, guarding Sphinx and castle alike.
I am the master of my element, as mortal gaze passes my presence unawares, I sit aloof and calm. In a moments flight if it be my desire, I know I may leap from my heavenly perch, surefooted and soundless to go upon my way...

Khah~Lehna: Born of Angels

Jake was a tall man, with a large frame. His hair was short, close cropped, and the color of leaves in late Fall. His eyes were blue, the shade of ice burgs, and ancient waters. He was a hard working man, he appreciated a job well done. You might say he was comfortable in his own skin. “Jake has a quiet confidence about himself”, thought Jhanell as she watched as her husband walk up the road with the last of the material for the new fence.
They were a young couple, and had been married for less than a year now. In the mornings she would wake up just before he did, so she could watch him sleeping, her eyes softly caressing his unfurled brow, strong nose, and the almost feminine curve of his lips. She loved this act of voyeuristic innosence she secretly enjoyed. Jhannel loved this man, she was as happy as a kitten with a full belly of milk, lying in the warm sunshine of the porch. “I do have a full belly too.” She thought, smiling in spite of herself. She was sure of it now, the way only a woman could be. “ I think it’s time we told your Daddy that your on the way little one.” She said, placing a loving hand protectively over her ,as yet, still flat tummy. “ We’ll tell him tonight.” She said aloud, and began...
